No, I originally studied physics at university but didn’t like it and dropped out. Then over the next year I was looked into different engineering courses whilst working in a lab. I found chemical engineering and never looked back.

My school never really told us about engineering so I never really considered it.

All the way through school I actually wanted to be a vet. I even volunteered at a Vet Practice every Saturday morning for a year to gain experience. This all came to an abrupt end when I watched my first operation and nearly fainted…not ideal!!
It wasn’t until I was starting to choose University courses that Engineering came up as an option. As Mark has already mentioned, Engineering wasn’t really discussed at school so I didn’t know much about it. It was my Dad that suggested it might be a good idea.

      I didnt!,

I thought about many things including professional sports (I was a pretty good 400m runner and basketball player) but then i decided to stay with science. I only chose engineering because it is a nice mix of the sciences and maths and I couldn’t pick which I wanted to do!

No I wanted to study history and was pretty sure it was what I wanted to do until I started my a-level courses. I found essay writing and analysing sources really difficult but loved my maths and physics lessons. I found engineering to be the best mix between the maths units I enjoyed and the mechanical principals in physics.
