Hello Issy, We start off by checking all the parts in a computer programme called CAD. We can build the CAD up on your computers to check that the parts are all in the correct places and there aren’t any problems. We have a list of things that we need to check for, the main thing is to check no parts are going through other parts..we call this a clash.

Once we have done all our computer work, called the virtual phase, we start the physical builds. This is when we start to properly build the cars and we can check for ourselves that the parts all fit together.

The plan is that we spot all the problems while we are doing the virtual work so the car goes together nicely in the physical builds. Unfortunately it isn’t always possible to spot everything so we still do get some issues coming up later on.

I hope this answers your question, it is quite hard to explain. If you want any more detail please let me know 🙂
